Over The Hill Farm’s Lee Cesery Named Best Amateur Rider, Sophie Read Best Child Rider At HITS IV Ocala Tournament

Ocala, FL- March 7, 2006- Over the Hill Farm topped off an exceptional week with two Best Rider awards. Lee Cesery of Jacksonville, Florida, was given the Best Amateur Rider award for the second week in a row. Young Sophie Read of Lake Mary, FL, impressed the judges with her riding skills and walked off with the Best Child Rider award. Their riding this week, along with the other Over the Hill Farm riders, gave trainer Bill Schaub and his farm a grand total of six championships and two reserve championships.

Bill Schaub spoke of Sophie Read, “She has gained a lot of experience riding and training on all the ponies from my farm. She has taken that experience and moved it forward to her Pre-Green and Children’s horse, Monaco. I’m very proud of her.”

Riding in the Amateur-Owner Hunter 36 and Over division, Lee Cesery and What D’Ya Know showed their winning form by securing the championship with a first and a second over fences. Cesery and What D’Ya Know, or Snickers as he’s affectionately known, also won the division last week.

For the third week in a row, Cachet carried Cesery to a win in the Adult Amateur Hunter 46 and Over division. The pair won four firsts and a second while capturing the championship. Cesery spoke admiringly of her horses, “They’ve been so good! Cachet is probably ready to move up. I’ll probably start to do her in Amateur-Owners. Snickers was just awesome this weekend. His division is so competitive. We’re all ready for a rest.” Cesery said her plans are to do the Atlanta shows next.

Cachet has won every time she has been shown in the Green Conformation Hunter division here in Ocala. Ridden by Hunt Tosh for owner Lee Cesery, Cachet won three firsts and a second for the championship.

Change of Heart, shown in the Low Hunter division by Hunt Tosh for owner Ehricka Wallace, came out on top with the championship in this huge division. Tosh guided Change of Heart to two firsts and a second place.

Blew By You was champion in the Children’s Jumper (High) Level 3. Blew By You is owned by Katie Hogan and was ridden in the division by Nicole Baley. Baley and “Greta” conquered the course to win a first place while capturing the championship. The winning pair also demonstrated their skill by taking second place in the $1,500 Marshall and Sterling Children’s Jumper Classic. A grinning Baley said, “I was nervous at first, but OK once I got in. Greta’s a great horse to ride. The course was technical, and the turns were tight. It’s been two years since I’ve done jumpers. I used to ride pony jumpers. In the Classic, you were able to choose what to do in the lines, so it was fun to ride. I had a blast.”

Time To Talk, the striking bay pony owned by Lauren Hogan, was shown by Samantha Schaefer in the Large Pony Hunter division. Time To Talk took first in the model class and then a first and second to win the championship in this competitive division.

In the Large Green Pony Hunter division, Showboat, owned by Ann Gardner and ridden by Samantha Schaefer, was reserve champion while winning a first and two seconds.

Riding in the Marshall and Sterling Children’s Hunter Classic, Sophie Read guided her new horse, Monaco, to the top prize and took home the blue ribbon. Read shyly said, “He’s kind of green, so I was really pleased that he went around so well. The distances were very good for him.”

In the Children’s Hunter Horse 15-17 division, three Over the Hill Farm riders came home with a blue ribbon over fences. Bethany Klein rode her horse, Turning Point, to a first place. Role Model and owner/rider Courtney Rodrigue also took a blue. Caroline van den Berg rode Luc for the Redfield Farm LLC and brought home first place.

Parker Wright of Lakeland, Florida, and Two To Tango had a first place ribbon and won the reserve championship in Section B of the Short Stirrup Hunter division. Two To Tango is owned by Kristi Thompson. Master Wright also rode Fancy Feet in Section A of the Short Stirrup Hunter division for owner Bill Schaub and brought home two second place ribbons.

Over the Hill Farm riders will compete next at the HITS IV Ocala Tournament in Ocala, Florida.
