Local traditions were on full display for the first Sunday of the 130th Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, with the annual Carriage Pleasure Drive. Each year on the first Sunday of the show, carriages of all shapes and sizes parade through the streets of Devon, ending with the final judging in the Dixon Oval.
The popular and time-honored discipline of driving has been part of Devon’s history since 1896, while the Carriage Pleasure Drive has been an established flagship event for over 50 years, entertaining exhibitors and spectators alike on the Sunday before Memorial Day each year. Immediately following the initial inspection, competitors drive through the picturesque neighborhoods of Devon, Pennsylvania, before returning to the showgrounds for the final judging. Immaculately turned out horses, carriages, whips, and passengers gracefully paraded around the Dixon Oval in the hopes of claiming the coveted Devon blue ribbon.
This year’s Championship title and Robert & Virginia Weaver Challenge Trophy went to Mary Jane Potter and her Spider Phaetom Potter.
Potter topped the Horse Double Harness, Pairs – Tandems-Opportunity class on her way to taking the 2026 Championship title. Potter was also crowned the winner of the Pleasure Drive Amateur Whip Award, collecting the Susie Buchanan Perpetual Trophy.
Susan Redden-Bailey and Jessica Tanglao’s 2002 American Saddlebred gelding Dance Dance Revolution Dancer claimed Reserve champion honors in their Single Harness, 4 Wheel Vehicle.
