Lexington, Ky – May 20, 2022 – Equitation competitors kicked off a beautiful morning at the Kentucky Spring Classic II in the Claiborne arena Friday with the Ariat Adult National Medal. Adult amateur riders took to the arena to show their style on their partnered mounts in the hopes of claiming the top honors.. In the end, it was Jordan Allen piloting Carino B, owned by Ashland Farm, who took the blue ribbon and the highest score.

The two-part class asked the participants to complete a first round course asking various questions of the riders, being judged on their style and execution. The top riders who obtained the highest score from the first round were asked to return to complete a test where they were given a new, shortened course of jumps winding throughout the original track.

Allen and Carino B, the 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding, navigated the course with ease to earn themselves a score of 84. As the judge asked the top four to return to the test round, it was Allen and Carino B who sealed the deal in the Ariat Adult National Medal to take home the win. Exhibiting consistent pace and ease while navigating through the roll back turns and showing a smooth track ultimately earned them the top honors.

Jordan Allen and Carino B:

On her partnership with Carino B:
“He is a newer horse to Ashland Farms, we got him last week I believe. He was jumping some bigger classes in Europe, I think this is one of his first equitation classes. He is awesome. He’s really straight forward, I really like riding him. I think he’s really a top horse so it was really fun. He rides similarly to my junior equitation horse because he is so big and jumps so easily, so it’s nice for him to do this job. I can’t thank Ashland Farms enough for letting me show him, he really is a fun horse and I look forward to what he has coming next.”

On the Kentucky Horse Shows:
“I love showing at Kentucky. It’s one of my favorite shows. I’ve been with Ashland Farms for about five years now. We have a farm here, and it’s where we spend our entire summer.”
