Wellington, Fla. – April 4, 2019 – American Equus, the leading American manufacturer of top quality equestrian products such as stirrups, spurs, horseshoes, and apparel, would like to congratulate sponsored rider Victoria Colvin on all her success over the 2019 winter season in Wellington, Florida. On top of being the leading hunter rider at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), Colvin also piloted a new mount, El Primero, to top wins at the prestigious Deeridge Derby weekend held at the Deeridge Farms.
“Being able to see Victoria succeed this winter and have such positive career trajectory has been exciting for us,” remarked David Shano, Founder of American Equus. “We are extremely glad to be a part of her team and day to day success, and look forward to celebrating many more highlights of hers in the future.”
Colvin took home top honors as the overall hunter rider at WEF, accumulating 3012 points in hunter divisions and being the only one to surpass 3000. She received either a championship ribbon or a reserve championship ribbon every week of WEF, and in total won over 30 tricolor ribbons on 20 different horses. In addition to her weekly wins, Colvin also took home the coveted $100,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Hunter Spectacular win with Brad Wolf’s 2018 WCHR Hunter of the Year, Private Practice, under the lights during Week Six.
Colvin also took on a new winning mount this season, getting the ride on the Meralax owned horse El Primero. Colvin had a strong start to the new partnership when she and El Primero won the High Performance Working Hunter division during WEF Week One. At the Deeridge Derby weekend, she dominated over two days of competition to take the win in the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby.
Colvin capped out her season by taking the win in the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, this time held on the last Sunday of WEF on the stadium derby field at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. Riding the same mount she rode to the win in the derby just weeks prior, Colvin and El Primero put in two outstanding rounds over the two days of competition to end her winter season on a high note.
