American Gold Cup CSI4*-W Returns to Old Salem Farm This Week!

North Salem, N.Y. – Sept. 12, 2017 – The 2017 American Gold Cup CSI4*-W, one of the most prestigious and crowd-pleasing show jumping events in the country, is set to take place Wednesday, Sept. 13, through Sunday, Sept. 17, at Old Salem Farm. Celebrating its sixth anniversary at this picturesque location and third year as part of the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping North American League, the American Gold Cup will showcase an international field of world-class athletes as well as exciting family friendly entertainment throughout the week.

Historically, for over four decades, the American Gold Cup has attracted top horses and athletes from around the world to compete in prominent show jumping events and this year is no exception. Some of the U.S. athletes set to participate include world number two ranked athlete and two-time Olympic gold medalist, McLain Ward, as well as Georgina Bloomberg, Margie Engle and recent BMO Nations Cup team gold medalists at Spruce Meadows, Beezie Madden and Charlie Jacobs. Athletes from eight other nations around the globe will also be in attendance at Old Salem Farm vying for top honors and the coveted American Gold Cup trophy.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet some of these competitors at an autograph signing following the final awards ceremony of the main event, the $216,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping New York CSI4*-W on Sunday, Sept. 17.

The American Gold Cup will also showcase fun and entertaining events for families and children of all ages. Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, younger fans can enjoy face painting, magicians, a petting zoo, pony rides and more in addition to shopping on Boutique Row.

Sunday will feature additional special guests and exclusive events including the JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show, sponsored by Voltaire Design, where horse enthusiasts can compete on foot over a miniature course of jumps in a variety of different classes. Other festivities throughout the week include a live concert on Friday featuring NBC’s The Voice star Johnny Rez at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit JustWorld International and children in need around the world. A variety of culinary options will be available throughout the facility from delicious food vendors to the Jockey Club, which offers gourmet food and beverages daily along with a spectacular ringside view of the grass Grand Prix Field. Competition in 2017 will play host to a number of important FEI-ranking events, culminating with the prestigious $216,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping New York CSI4*-W on Sunday, Sept. 17. The 2017 event will also feature the $86,000 American Gold Cup Qualifier CSI4*-W, presented by Windsor Show Stables, on Friday, Sept. 15, and the $35,000 Hermès Sellier Classic and $86,000 Fidelity Investments® Classic CSI4* on Saturday, Sept. 16.
