The American Gold Cup Features Five Days of Thrilling Show Jumping Competition and Family Fun

The American Gold Cup 2016, one of the most prestigious and crowd-pleasing events in the country, is set to take place Wednesday, September 14 through Sunday, September 18, at Old Salem Farm. Celebrating its fifth anniversary at this picturesque location, the Gold Cup will showcase an international field of world-class riders as well as exciting family-friendly entertainment throughout the week.

Olympians to Compete
Historically, the American Gold Cup has attracted top horses and riders from around the world to compete in prominent show jumping classes and this year is no exception. Some of the riders set to participate include members of the silver medal winning team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Fans will have the opportunity to meet some of the competitors at an autograph signing following the final awards ceremony of the main event, the $216,000 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping New York.

Fun for Children of All Ages
In addition to the top horses and riders, the American Gold Cup will showcase fun and entertaining events for children of all ages. On Saturday and Sunday, younger fans can enjoy face painting, a petting zoo and pony rides. Pied Piper Petting Zoo and Pony Rides provide children with a chance to learn all about a variety of animals. Even more exciting is the chance to experience the thrill of riding a pint-sized version of the grand prix jumping horses they just witnessed.

Sunday will feature special guests and exclusive events, such as the North Salem Troop #1 Boy Scout troop and Miss New York 2016, Sera Bucaj. Other festivities include a live band, an amazing dog act and the JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show where horse enthusiasts can compete on foot over a miniature course of jumps in a variety of different classes. Proceeds from the event benefit children in need around the world.

Also on Sunday, the Wells Fargo Stagecoach horses and carriage will on the grounds for an exhibition in the Grand Prix field. This magnificent stagecoach pulled by a team of horses is a must-see event.

Food and Fun
A variety of culinary options will be available throughout the facility; including The Clock Tower Grill, at Old Salem Farm. This pop-Up restaurant will be open Tuesday – Sunday in the Upstairs viewing area. Reservations at the Old Salem Farm pop-up restaurant are encouraged and can be made by calling 203-512-1307. New for 2016 at Old Salem Farm, is the addition of a second double-decker called the Gold Club. This hospitality tent is open to the public all week and will also include reserved tables with food and beverage service.
