Brooke USA hosts Lunch & Learn Thursday, during Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center

“Supporting UN’s Sustainable Development Goals”

Wellington, Fla. – February 18, 2020 – Brooke USA is excited to host a Lunch & Learn session entitled “Supporting UN’s Sustainable Development Goals” on Thursday, February 20, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Fla. Brooke USA’s Vice Chair Katherine Kaneb will give the welcome remarks, while Brooke USA’s founding chairman, Dr. David Jones will give a compelling presentation to provide an in depth picture of the contribution of working equines to the lives of the people who depend on them.

The doors to the Wellington Club will open early at 8:30 a.m. for a trunk show benefiting Brooke USA, prior to the start of the Lunch & Learn at 11:30 a.m., and will continue upon the conclusion of the presentation. Brands include Annie’s Equestrienne, Beauty for Real, Heather B. Moore Jewelry, Horse and Rider Boutique, Middy N’ Me, Rivet Leatherworks, and Sofie’s Boutique.

Guests will enjoy a buffet lunch catered by White Horse Catering, with the presentation starting at noon. Upon admission to the event, attendees will be entered into the door prize raffle, with a chance to win one of three prizes. Riders, owners, and trainers may attend the Lunch & Learn with no admission fee, while horse enthusiasts and Brooke USA supporters are able to attend the exciting event for only $25.

The annual event kicks off Brooke USA’s third Paint Wellington Orange, a promotional, awareness and fundraising movement to further engage the community with Brooke USA. Supporters are able to attend Brooke USA events from February 20-March 20, joining together to share the organization’s vision of a world in which working equines are free from suffering. About the Keynote Speaker

Dr. David Jones is a veterinarian and zoologist by training, and is Founding Chairman of Brooke USA, having led the organization since its inception in 2007 and more importantly, driving its enormous success since 2016 when it re-branded with a new mission and focus.

In total, Dr. Jones has dedicated almost 50 years to volunteering for the Brooke nonprofit family, and has served in several leadership capacities and in many roles, including Trustee, Vice Chairman, Chairman, and Honorary Vice President of Brooke International.

He is Director Emeritus of the North Carolina Zoo, having run it for 22 years. Dr. Jones was previously CEO of the Zoological Society of London and has spent his extensive career in the wildlife and zoo management field, working in more than 50 countries – mainly in Africa and the Middle East.

Dr. Jones has a special interest in the need to make environmental concerns relevant to people’s everyday lives and to show the close connection between our environment and economy.
