Lexington, Ky. – October 5, 2021 – The summer season has come to a close and international show jumping athlete Catherine Tyree and her team at Catherine Tyree LLC are celebrating a successful season and preparing for the upcoming fall and winter show circuits.
Tyree rode to top finishes on each of her mounts throughout the summer, ranging from the national level to five-star competition, featuring a win in the $200,000 Major League Show Jumping Team Competition CSI5* at Angelstone Tournaments. With successful outings and learning experiences in the rearview mirror, the team now focuses its efforts on progressing through the fall and preparing for the 2022 Winter Equestrian Festival.
Team AIM United Takes the Gold in the $200,000 CSI5* Major League Show Jumping Team Competition at Angelstone Tournaments
In the fourth competition along the 2021 Major League Show Jumping circuit, AIM United took the win in the team competition at Angelstone Tournaments in Ontario, CA. Tyree and long-time partner BEC Lorenzo helped team members Ashlee Bond (ISR) aboard Contefina LVF, and Daniel Bluman (ISR) with Cachemire de Braize clinch the victory in the three-round team competition, putting AIM United in third place overall on the circuit. Tyree and BEC Lorenzo posted a pair of double clears to help qualify AIM United for the gold medal jump-off.
“I wanted to jump the second round, but not the third round for the jump-off, because I knew I wouldn’t go so fast,” said Tyree. “I was really happy with how [BEC Lorenzo] jumped. I thought it was quick enough and it put pressure on everyone else. I was lucky to have Ashlee [Bond] go so fast and give us that little bit of edge.”
Team AIM United now looks ahead to the next stop on its tour in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, from October 28-November 1.
Individually, Tyree had incredible results during the two weeks of competition at Angelstone Tournaments. With 11-year-old BEC Lorenzo, she took home a top-twelve and top-eight finish in the $217,000 CSI5* Cabana Coast Grand Prix and the $217,000 Kubota Canada Grand Prix CSI5*, respectively.Camilla Z earned championship honors in the 1.35m Open Division, claiming first and third in each of the classes. The nine-year-old mare also jumped to eighth in her first ever CSI2* Grand Prix with a clear round.Tyree and eight-year-old Newton Van Het Krekelhof won the opening CSI5* 1.40m during both weeks of Angelstone Tournaments.
Top Finishes For Tyree in Traverse City
In July, BEC Lorenzo started grand prix action with a bang, securing an eighth place finish in the $137,000 Meijer Grand Prix CSI3* during Week One of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF). During GLEF III, BEC Lorenzo took home seventh place in the $72,900 Premier Equestrian 1.50m CSI5* and twelfth in the $230,000 Major League Show Jumping Grand Prix CSI5* to wrap up an incredible circuit.
Tyree’s veteran mount, Bokai, took home a double-clear and third place finish in the $36,600 Winning Round CSI5* after jumping a fabulous round in the $230,000 MLSJ Grand Prix CSI5* during GLEF II.
QBS Equestrian’s Cantalupe V/D Holstenhoeve showed his incredible promise in the 6-Year-Old Young Jumper division, finishing fifth in the class during GLEF I, winning the Final during GLEF II, and securing third in the Final during GLEF V. “Melon” went on to compete in the USHJA 6-Year-Old Young Jumping Championships during the Traverse City Tournament of Champions, claiming third overall to cap off his fault-free year.
During GLEF III, Newton Van Het Krekelhof debuted at the CSI2* grand prix level with a fantastic round in the $36,600 NetJets Large Tour Grand Prix CSI2*, while Camilla Z also made an exciting CSI5* debut to place second in the $1,000 1.40m Two Phase CSI5*.

Tyree Sails Through Sensational Split Rock Jumping Tour
The team spent two weeks in June close to their summer base in Lexington, KY, for the Split Rock Jumping Tour, ending with top results and promising finishes for all of the horses. Cantalupe V/D Holstenhoeve jumped clear in every 6 Year Old Young Jumper class he entered during the Split Rock Jumping Tour, including a second place finish during Week II and securing third in the 6 Year Old Young Jumper Final during Week I.BEC Lorenzo closed out Week I with a clear first round and third place finish in the $100,000 Grand Prix CSI2*, and Newton Van Het Krekelhof jumped fault-free throughout both weeks at Split Rock Jumping Tour.
