Wellington, Fla. – Feb. 2, 2016 – Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) was among 27 non-profit organizations selected in a lottery style drawing to participate in the 2017 Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments® (GCC) on Saturday, Feb. 4. This will be the organization’s third year benefiting from the event, which helps to raise over $1.5 million for Palm Beach County charities each year.
The relay-style equestrian jumping competition will be held at the world famous Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Each charity will be assigned to a team consisting of two junior/amateur riders combined with one Olympic or world-class rider. The winning team will receive $150,000 for the charity they’re representing, and each participating charity is guaranteed to go home with $15,000. This year the HHH team is graciously supported by the Marrinan and Rotondo families, with Corporate sponsorship from Gold Coast Feed & Supply.
With free general admission, there is no reason to miss out on the weekend’s highlight event. There will be available parking at 13500 Southshore Blvd. Gates will be opening at 6 p.m. and competition will begin at 6:30 p.m.
In its inaugural year (2010), the GCC generated over $400,000 for 24 local charities and today, has donated over $9.2 million to 200 Palm Beach County charities. This year the event will distribute $1.5 million to add to its already incredible fundraising amount, surpassing the $10 million milestone.
In 2016, HHH participated in the “Superhero” themed jumping competition, receiving $21,000 after the Brushwood Stables and Hilton family sponsored team ran a time of 103.494 seconds. Two years prior (2013), the charity was the recipient of a $25,000 surprise grant that was awarded the same night as the competition. To date, HHH has received a total of $46,000 in donations from the GCC. Their sponsors for this Saturday’s event are the Marrinan and Rotondo families, as well as Gold Coast Feed.
Aside from participating in the GCC, Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) is looking forward to hosting its sixth annual White, White, West Party on Feb. 24, 2016 at the Wellington National Golf Club. More information about the White, White, West Party can be found here.
