Wellington, Fla. – April 4, 2019 – The team at Oakland Stables concluded a successful 2019 winter season in Wellington, Florida with great results at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) and the Ridge Turf Tour. Both Darragh Kenny (IRL) and Hardin Towell (USA) finished in the top placings throughout the duration of the circuit, in addition to their students producing great results. The season was highlighted by Oakland Stables’ continued support from sponsors, owners, and the entire team at Oakland.
Kenny started the season strong for Team Oakland by taking home the top prize in the $134,000 Adequan Grand Prix CSI3* with Ann Thompson’s Classic Dream. Kenny also produced great results in the ring with a number of extremely talented horses, including Veronica Tracy’s Chinook II and Jack Snyder’s Babalou 41. Additionally, Kenny piloted Kerry McCahill’s Important de Muze to a third place finish in the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix at HITS Ocala. Kenny was also honored as the recipient for the M. Michael Meller Style of Riding Award, which he received for his sportsmanlike composure and style of riding at the CP Palm Beach Masters Winter Classic CSI4*-W.
“This season was a great one for Team Oakland. Our whole team worked really hard. I was honored to continue working with all of our fantastic sponsors and loyal owners,” Kenny commented. “Our season wouldn’t have been as successful without all of their support.”
Towell also had great results during the start of 2019 that added to the overall success of Team Oakland. With the ride on Oakland Stables’ Billy Cool, Towell placed fourth in the $50,000 Dutta Corp./Guido Klatte Grand Prix CSI2* during Week Seven of WEF. Towell also placed third with SHL Farm’s Dubai in the $18,000 Turf Tour 1.40m Finale Grand Prix to close out the Wellington season.
“The 2019 season was great. I was really proud to see both our horses and students progress so well throughout the duration of circuit. There are a lot of exciting things to come for Oakland Stables and I can’t wait for the future with our team, horses, and sponsors,” said Towell.
Another exciting development for Oakland Stables is their new partnership with Sarah Ryan of Sport Horse Lifestyle and her superb string of horses. Both Kenny and Towell will campaign her horses over the next few months, including Sweet Tricia and Dubai, and look forward to a bright future.
The team at Oakland is now gearing up for a number of exciting events on the horizon. Up next, Kenny will travel to New York to compete in the Longines Masters New York. The entire team will then head to Lexington, Kentucky for the Kentucky Spring Horse Show series. Following, Oakland Stables will travel to Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Canada to continue to campaign their strong group of horses.
As always, operations at Oakland would not be possible without the continued support of each and every sponsor, including Equiline, Parlanti, GPA Safety Legend, Equine Omega Complete, Walsh, Roeckl, Enviro Equine, Veredus, Dy’on, Theraplate, Flexineb, ReinRite, Butet, Acavallo, CWD, and Flex On.
