How has working out at Ncognito helped you both in and out of the saddle?
Working with Marcus has increased my discipline and focus. He has helped increase my strength and endurance both on and off the horse. I always equate my work with the horse and what I ask of them. If I’m not strong and fit, I can’t be the best for my horses.

What has been the biggest difference you’ve seen in your riding since working with Marcus?
I’ve always done a lot of cross training work throughout my career, but I feel the workouts at Ncognito have helped me with my cardio, as well as core strength. I always bring that back to my horses and try to adjust their workouts with the same care and consideration I receive in my own workouts.

What about his program makes it different than just going to your local gym?
Marcus really cares about the people he trains. He notices what you need and adjusts exercises for the individual. He makes sure the exercises are done properly and pushes in a very positive way.

How has working out at Ncognito helped you both in and out of the saddle?
I started with Marcus for corrective exercise after some serious injuries to my back, ribs, and shoulder. I had been in the hospital and on bed rest for a few months, so I was quite nervous about getting back in the gym and wanted to find someone who fully understood my injuries, as well as the equestrian sport in order to help me reach my goal of competing at a top level again. Marcus understood both of those concerns and helped me rehabilitate in a way that not only made me feel comfortable and confident in the gym again, but also achieve the goal of competing again at a high level.

What has been the biggest difference you’ve seen in your riding since working with Marcus?
Through exercises specific to the sport, Marcus helped me gain strength in areas that significantly improved my riding.

What about his program makes it different than just going to your local gym?
Ncognito is different than a local gym because they offer not only individual corrective exercise, but also a wide range of more therapeutic wellness such as massage therapy and stretch sessions. Marcus works closely with clients, even in the group classes, to better understand their wants and goals in and out of the gym. They are focused on overall wellness, and provide far more individual attention and support than any local gym would.

How has working out at Ncognito helped you both in and out of the saddle?
It has been the key to me hitting my goals. I have built muscle, gotten stronger, and improved my cardio.

What has been the biggest difference you’ve seen in your riding since working with Marcus?
The biggest difference is definitely in my core! My strong core muscles now make it easier to do all my physical activities and improved my posture tremendously.

What about his program makes it different than just going to your local gym?
I like Marcus’s program better because I get the one-on-one attention. He has customized a work out that is tailor-made for me.

Meet the Owner/Master Trainer: Marcus Nisbett

Marcus has been a professional in the Health & Fitness industry since 1997. After some personal injuries he sustained in a car accident, he was amazed by the human body’s potential to heal and correct itself with proper guidance, and wanted to help others experience this as well.

He quickly became one of the top trainers at the New York Health and Racquet Club, and also earned his degree in massage therapy from The Swedish Institute, the oldest and most prestigious school for massage in the world, before making his way down to Florida in 2006. He has been in Wellington, FL training hundreds of clients for the last 15 years.

“When I went to massage school, I realized that a lot of the practices could also be incorporated on the gym floor. There has to be a balance of guided exercise and massage therapy to correct a clients ailments,” said Nisbett. “I have a great range of clients, from eight years old to eighty-two years old. The cool part is those individuals can be working out side by side, doing the same workout, with just slight differences that caters the workout specifically to their body.”

The location of his facility in Wellington has drawn a lot of interest from equestrians, and Nisbett has guided his workouts to meet their specific training needs. “Functional training is at the core of everything we do because it serves so many purposes. Whether the client is a hunter/jumper or dressage rider, it’s all about the hip and the pelvis. So a lot of the corrective exercise that help with the knee, hip, ankle and back are translated to the horse very quickly.”
