Horse & Country TV Kicks off WEG Highlight Shows with Dressage Team Competition

Mill Spring, N.C. – Sept. 20, 2018 – The 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games™ (WEG) are officially underway, and Horse & Country TV (H&C TV)’s first highlight show from the world championship, featuring dressage, will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 9:30 p.m. EST.

Thursday will highlight the dressage team competition, while the Grand Prix Special will be showcased on Friday at 9:30 p.m. EST. Join H&C TV to watch all of the action from WEG here.

In the team competition, the Germans put on brilliant rounds to take the gold medal. The performances of riders Sönke Rothenberger and Isabell Werth were able to secure the top spot. This was Germany’s 12th victory in the 52 years of the world dressage championships and their seventh win out of the eight World Equestrian Games.

Following spectacular performances in the Grand Prix Special, Werth and Bella Rose took the individual gold medal, while Laura Graves (USA) and Verdades took silver and Charlotte Dujardin (GBR) and Mount St John Freestyle claimed bronze.

Graves’ runner-up finish is the first individual silver medal awarded to any U.S. dressage rider at a global championship, including the WEG and the Olympics.

In addition, a highlight show from the WEG reining competition will also air on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. EST on H&C TV. The U.S. took home their fifth consecutive team gold medal and Bernard Fonck of Belgium and What A Wave secured the individual gold medal. U.S. reiners Dan Huss and Cade McCutcheon claimed the individual silver and bronze medals, respectively.

H&C TV will be showing daily one-hour recaps throughout the games in addition to coverage of all Olympic and non-Olympic events.

WEG is held every four years in the middle of the Olympic cycle, and is one of the biggest events on the equestrian calendar. It features a total of eight equestrian disciplines: show jumping, dressage, para-dressage, eventing, driving, endurance, vaulting and reining. It is the major global championship of 2018.

The 2018 games are being held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Tryon, North Carolina, Sept. 11–23.

With a new episode broadcasting each day throughout WEG, Daily Reviews will premiere at 5 p.m. EST and will replay at 8 p.m. EST each day they air.

In addition, viewers can watch highlights from each discipline at the following schedule (all times EST):
