Middleburg, Va. – Nov. 2, 2020 – Renowned hunter trainer and rider Sandy Ferrell of Royall Show Hunters will be hosting a clinic Saturday, November 7, at Rutledge Farm as a part of the Rutledge Farm Sessions clinic series. During this exclusive inaugural hunter clinic at Rutledge Farm, Ferrell will focus on exercises tailored to strengthening hunter riders’ skills and body control. Ferrell’s clinic has filled fast, with just one spot remaining! Footage from the day will be available to view for free on USEF Network using the code ‘Rutledge19’ for fan access.
Ferrell grew up around horses, competing in the pony, hunter, and equitation divisions throughout her junior career. Now based out of Hagerstown, Maryland and Wellington, Florida, Ferrell owns and operates Royall Show Hunters where she trains and competes at the nation’s leading equestrian events year-round. She has trained her clients to numerous wins and championships on the circuit, and is a six-time regional professional winner of the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) competition. In 2008, she won the WCHR Hunter Spectacular, and in 2018 Ferrell won the inaugural USHJA 3’6” Green Hunter Incentive at the Kentucky Horse Show.
Ferrell said, “When I teach, my main focus is on the rider’s body control. For me, teaching a clinic is not about the size of the jumps. It is really about body control and building the connection with their horses. That will be my goal. I have often said many times that if there is anything I can contribute to the hunter world, the up-and-coming generations, it is through teaching. I love teaching, and I think a lot of people get stuck in a comfort zone. The only way to learn to ride better and to learn how to communicate with your horse better is learn to get out of your comfort zone.”
Rutledge Farm is proud to bring you on-demand access to all of the Rutledge Farm Sessions thanks to USEF Network. Using the code ‘Rutledge 19’, all 2019-2020 clinics can be accessed from the comfort of your home for free!
