Laas Equestrian Real Estate is a proud sponsor of the 2017 “Buck Off” to benefit
Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center. Dr. Travis Laas has a special history with this event. He was on the winning team of the inaugural event and was the high scoring rider in the second year and is thrilled to be supporting it once again, this year as a team coach.
Vinceremos serves children and adults with developmental, physical and psychological disabilities in a fun, natural and nurturing environment where the riders gain greater independence and achieve a higher quality of life. Proceeds from the “Buck Off” events go toward covering the high costs that are incurred on a daily basis in order to keep the horses, staff, and facility at Vinceremos operating.
There are 4 “Buck Off” events, 3 preliminary competitions and a championship round, held over a period of 4 weeks. The championship round is held during the Vinceremos Annual Dinner Auction. This is a team competition with 4 riders to a team. Each competition has a panel of 4 different judges that can score the riders a maximum score of 25 points per judge, making a perfect score of 100 points. All four rider’s scores are totaled for a team score. Riders must stay on the bull for 20 seconds and keep one hand free in order to receive a score. Judges give points based on style, character and a bonus for costumes. The team with the highest score at each preliminary competition will advance to the championship round to compete against each other and the winning team from the previous year. This year’s preliminary events will be held on Jan. 12, Jan. 19,
Jan. 26. at the White Horse Fashion Cuisine. The championship will be held on
Feb. 3 in conjunction with the 30th Annual Vinceremos Benefit Dinner and Auction.
