Lauren Balcomb and Verdini D’Houtveld Z Close Out Kentucky Spring Classic with Win in $35,000 Bluegrass Grand Prix
Lexington, Ky. – May 22, 2022 – The two-week Kentucky Spring Classic series came to a close Sunday afternoon in the Rolex Stadium as athletes gathered for the $35,000 Bluegrass Grand Prix for one final shot at a top finish. Out of a field of 28 competitive entries, just nine cleared their way to the jump-off for a chance to vie for the first place honors. In the end, it was Lauren Balcomb (AUS) and her very own Verdini D’Houtveld Z who emerged victorious to claim the last win of the spring series.
Blythe Goguen and Category Jump to Grand Junior Hunter Championship at Kentucky Spring Classic
Junior hunter competition commenced Sunday morning in the Stonlea arena with 3’6” junior hunter competition. Serving as the second day of the division for the juniors, riders and their top hunter mounts put their best efforts forward to vie for the division championship as well as the coveted Grand Junior Hunter Champion title. Awarded to the competitor with the most points accumulated in either the 3’3” or 3’6” sections of the junior hunter divisions, it was ultimately Blythe Goguen and Category who topped the leaderboard at the end of the weekend.
