Traverse City, Mich. – September 15, 2020 – Each year, the American Gold Cup brings together show jumping’s top athletes to showcase their skills during the world-class competition. M. Michael Meller of MMM Horseman is proud to support the exciting horse show through the M. Michael Meller Style Award, donated in memory of Meller’s mother Harriette Meller. Held for the first time at the Flintfields Horse Park in Traverse City ,MI, this year’s style award was presented to one of the world’s leading athletes, Kent Farrington, who later went on to win the $213,300 American Gold Cup Grand Prix CSI4*, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors.

Each year, the M. Michael Meller Style of Riding Award is presented to the athlete that exhibits the best combination of horsemanship, skill and presentation while competing. The award was presented prior to the finale event, where Farrington once again showcased his skill by topping the 15-horse jump-off aboard Gazelle, owned by Farrington and Robin Parsky.
After his victory Farrington commented, “It was a great win today. It’s a crazy time in the world, but we still have great sport, and they have done an amazing job putting on the show and keeping this a special class. I am very proud to win today. We’ve been building for a big class and this is the biggest so far this year. I’m glad that the plan came together and the whole team was here supporting me today. Gazelle’s owner [Robin Parsky] came to watch today and we had some extra luck from all the fans here. I have such an exceptional horse in Gazelle and she really delivered and showed her stuff today.”
Meller was thrilled to present the Style Award to Farrington noting, “Kent is an athlete who truly embodies everything the Style Award represents. While he is extremely skilled in the saddle, he is also a rider who has worked extremely hard to get to where he is today and has put in the hours both in and out of the saddle to earn his spot at the top of sport.”
Meller continued, “The American Gold Cup new home in Michigan is very exciting and the management team did an excellent job. This unique event always brings together some of the world’s best athletes at a truly amazing location. I believe in supporting world-class competitions that showcase the best the sport has to offer.”
