Lexington, Ky. – Nov. 2, 2020 – Each year, the National Horse Show brings together show jumping’s top athletes to showcase their skills during the world-class competition. M. Michael Meller of MMM Horseman is proud to support the exciting horse show through the M. Michael Meller Style Award, donated in memory of Pat Van Dyke Fischer. This year’s style award was presented to one of the world’s leading young athletes, Sydney Shulman, who represented Isreal in the $213,300 National Horse Show Grand Prix.
Each year, the M. Michael Meller Style of Riding Award is presented to the athlete that exhibits the best combination of horsemanship, skill and presentation while competing. The award was presented prior to the finale event, where Shulman once again showcased her skill aboard Jill Shuman’s Villamoura.
After receiving the award Shulman said, “I am honored to have won the Michael Meller Style Award at the National Horse Show. I feel privileged to have even been considered for this award! To have my name added to the trophy along with many of my riding and professional idols means a lot to me. Michael is extremely influential in our sport, is very well regarded, and is exceedingly well versed with the ‘players in the game’ so I am forever grateful for him to have picked me to win this award at this year’s National Horse Show.”
Meller was thrilled to present the Style Award to Shulman noting, “I’ve known Sydney for most of her life and it has been a pleasure to watch her career as she has progressed to one of the top young athletes in the sport. She is someone who demonstrates horsemanship both in the ring and in the barn, and is always happy to support her fellow athletes. One of the things that I find most commendable about Sydney is that she loves all of her horses and works to do what is best for each of them. Sydney is dedicated to our sport and it is exciting to see her representing Israel as she continues to climb the ranks on the international leaderboard.”
The team at QBS Equestrian and 500 Hats LLC have enjoyed watching Shulman’s career and believes she truly deserves this award as one of the most hardworking young athletes in the sport.
