Traverse City, Mich. – Sept. 21 , 2021 – Each year, the American Gold Cup brings together show jumping’s top athletes to showcase their skills during the world-class competition. M. Michael Meller of MMM Horseman and Dennis Sisco of QBS Equestrian are proud to support the exciting horse show through the M. Michael Meller Style Award, donated in memory of Meller’s mother, Harriette Meller. Held at the Flintfields Horse Park in Traverse City, MI, this year’s Style Award was presented to one of the country’s leading athletes, Georgina Bloomberg.
The M. Michael Meller Style of Riding Award is presented each year to the international athlete who displays an exemplary style of riding as well as sportsmanlike conduct in and out of the ring in the FEI Jumping Division – someone who exemplifies what it means to be a true role model for our industry. Bloomberg was honored with the award by Meller and Sisco ahead of the 2021 $230,000 American Gold Cup Grand Prix CSI5*, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors.
“It’s very meaningful because I have seen it presented before and it’s an award I’ve always wanted to earn,” expressed Bloomberg. “It means a lot because it’s very important to me that people respect how you behave outside of the ring and when you are not on a horse just as much as they do when you are in the saddle competing. I’ve always put importance on that for myself as well as my teammates on the New York Empire as well as the riders and grooms I work with – I think it’s just as important as riding and the results. To be rewarded for that and have someone say they appreciate the way that you ride as well as the things that you do when you are not on a horse means a lot to me. “
Meller was pleased to present the Style Award to Bloomberg, noting, “Georgina embodies everything that the Style Award represents as a gifted horsewoman who has represented the United States internationally, and who is always giving back to the sport through philanthropic efforts. She is a wonderful rider, mother and philanthropist and she truly deserves this honor.”
