Marcus Fyffe Dressage Heats Up the Competition During Adequan Global Dressage Festival

Wellington, Fla. – Feb. 17, 2017 – Olympian David Marcus and international Grand Prix competitor Nicholas Fyffe of Marcus Fyffe Dressage have been busy since the Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) kicked off in January coaching clients and developing their top Grand Prix horses.

“January was a big month for Marcus Fyffe Dressage with around 30 horses in our full training program,” Marcus explained. “I am thrilled with how our clients are progressing and finding success both in the development of their training and in the show ring.”

One client of Marcus Fyffe Dressage, Tuny Page, placed third in a competitive CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle with a 73.97 percent aboard her 14-year-old KWPN gelding, Woodstock. Jane Cleveland and her 8-year-old Danish Warmblood mare, Monique, also have been finding success in the show ring, with second place finishes in the CDI3* Prix St. Georges with a 71.886 percent and Intermediate I with a 72.807 percent.

Katrina Sadis, their working student, has received top scores in the CDI Young Rider division on Zepelim, her 13-year-old Lusitano gelding. The pair won two CDI Young Rider Freestyle classes with a 71.475 percent on the opening weekend of the AGDF and a 71.875 percent during the fifth week.

“I have really enjoyed working with all of our students from beginner riders to the international Grand Prix riders,” Marcus explained. “We have a few new horses coming out to the next shows which I’m looking forward to, as well as the growth from some of our students who have already shown great progress at home. We look forward to bringing that into the show ring.”

In addition to Marcus Fyffe Dressage students’ success in the CDI ring, their adult amateurs, junior young riders and professional riders have been winning blue ribbons and earning high scores in the national competitions.

Adam Steffens swept both his Third Level classes with Romulus in the national show ring, earning scores of 68.846 percent and 72.179 percent in Week 5. Susan Dutta and her 10-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Dimacci DC, placed well with a 69.211 percent in Intermediate I and 70.526 percent in Prix St. Georges tests.

Fyffe competed his 9-year-old PRE stallion, Fiero HGF, in the Grand Prix during the third week of AGDF and they earned a 67 percent. They also performed a Grand Prix Freestyle at the US P.R.E Party, which Fyffe uses as an opportunity to ride him under the lights in the exciting atmosphere of the international arena.

“I’m as excited about Fiero as the first day I rode him,” he said. “I could not be happier with him! I’m currently working to develop consistency in the ring, strength and real show routine.”

Fyffe has also competed client horses – winning a Prix St. Georges class with a 72.105 percent aboard Afago Da Reposa and placed well on Dejavu, both owned by Sonia Zugel.

“Looking forward to the next six weeks of AGDF, we have a few horses that have been competing nationally that will be moving into the CDI ring soon and we’re excited for that,” Fyffe said. “We have a wonderful team behind us. We’re happy with the successes we’re having and look forward to more!”
