Marcus Fyffe Dressage Wraps Up Highly Successful Wellington Season

Wellington, Fla. – April 27, 2017 – Marcus Fyffe Dressage, based year-round at the beautiful Stillpoint Farm, enjoyed a tremendously successful 2017 competition season at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida. The team, led by Olympian David Marcus and International Grand Prix rider Nicholas Fyffe, earned top placings throughout the season in the CDI and national level arenas.

Kicking off the season for Marcus Fyffe Dressage, Fyffe rode his talented 9-year-old P.R.E. stallion, Fiero HGF, in an exhibition Grand Prix as part of the 2017 U.S.P.R.E. Party at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC). In January, the pair earned a 67 percent and placed well in the national Grand Prix.

Both Marcus and Fyffe took the opportunity throughout the season to showcase several client-owned horses in the show ring earning impressive scores, numerous wins and top placings.

During the fifth week of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, Fyffe won a large Prix St. Georges class with a 72.105 percent aboard Afago Da Reposa and placed well on Dejavu in the Prix St. Georges, both horses were owned by Sonia Zugel.

During the seventh week, Marcus rode Quebec Bertling, an 8-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Sasha Cutter, to excellent finishes earning scores of 70.152 percent and 71.061 percent in their Third Level classes. He also competed Olga Hartsock’s Sandro Man, an 11-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, in Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I classes, receiving scores of 70 percent and 71.842 percent, respectively, during Week 10 of AGDF.

“Competing our clients’ horses enables Nicholas and I to understand more deeply what the client is feeling and experiencing in the ring.  That knowledge allows us to better prepare the horse for the client and helps us advance their riding careers and further develop their horses.” Marcus explained. “It is an opportunity for us to teach the horse to be focused in the competition ring and more rideable for the owner when they go down the centerline.”

Marcus Fyffe Dressage students took home wins and top-three finishes in competitive classes as well.  Their working student, Katrina Sadis on Zepelim, had a terrific season winning multiple CDI Young Rider Freestyle classes, and earning a personal best score of 71.875 percent. Tuny Page, a high-performance MFD student, represented the United States with her horse, Woodstock, at the CDIO3* Nations Cup presented by Stillpoint Farm. In addition, Page rode Dr. House 2 for the win during his CDI debut with a 71.627 percent in Week 7’s CDI-W Grand Prix Special.

As the winter season comes to an end, the team is excited to refocus their sights on upcoming summer training, shows and clinics.

“I really enjoy working with all of our students,” Marcus explained. “To see their growth and great progress at home makes us excited to develop and encourage their talent in the show ring, regardless if they are beginners or Grand Prix riders.”

“We have a wonderful support team,” Fyffe said. “”I am thrilled with our clients’ growth and success this season. It is exciting to see each of them achieve their equestrian goals and hone their dressage skills.  Everyone is excelling. We are proud of the success that this season brought us, and we are ready to work towards even greater things in the future.”
