Traverse City, Mich. – Feb. 24, 2021 – New to this year’s Traverse City Horse Show (TCHS) series, hunter competitors can look forward to the addition of a brand new hunter incentive program, culminating in the Traverse City Hunter Finals in September. The TCHS management team has implemented this new program to celebrate hunter athletes and horses, offering increased prize money and a chance to qualify for the Traverse City Hunter Finals and the Traverse City Derby Finals. Both finals will run concurrently with the 51st Anniversary of the American Gold Cup, set to take place Sept. 15-19.
Matt Morrissey, Event Director of Traverse City Horse Shows, commented, “We are really excited to be able to offer this new incentive program this year to support our hunter competitors. As a discipline that is often overlooked when it comes to prize money and championships, we hope this new addition will set a precedent for the future of hunter competition. We are looking forward to a really exciting year!”
Unique to Traverse City, exhibitors will have the chance to opt-in to the incentive program throughout the 12 weeks of competition. Over $260k dollars in guaranteed prize money is up for grabs at the conclusion of the season, with 70% of all enrollment fees dedicated as add back prize money for each division final. Horses not enrolled in the incentive program will still be eligible to compete for prize money as long as they have competed for three weeks during the Traverse City show series.

The TCHS series will kick-off Wednesday, June 9, with the Traverse City Spring Horses Show, presented by Turtle Creek Hotel & Casino. Participants enrolled in the Traverse City Hunter Finals program will be entitled to all prize money and awards as offered within their respective divisions.
