The Original Wailers to Perform Saturday Night at CP National Horse Show

Lexington, KY – September 6, 2017 – Saturday night at the CP National Horse Show Just got better! Presented by Wrennwood Farms, The Original Wailers, the world famous band behind Bob Marley, will take center stage after the $250,000 Longines FEI World Cup to perform their international hits for the CP National Horse Show crowd. Known the world over for their Grammy nominated reggae sound and led by guitarist Al Anderson, The Original Wailers are the perfect capstone to the action packed Saturday night in the Alltech Arena.

The Original Wailers

In 1974 when Bob Marley went solo, on the brink of international stardom, he surprised the music community by choosing as his lead guitarist, American born Al Anderson. It was Anderson’s stunning lead work on such classics as No Woman, No Cry, Dem Belly Full, and Curfew (Three O’clock Road Block) that first alerted rock fans to the Wailers’ music. Over a billion dollars worth of Marley’s music featuring Al Anderson’s evocative guitar work has been sold worldwide. Al has also played with Peter Tosh, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, Steel Pulse, Aswad, Inner Circle, Traffic, and Ben Harper. Fronted by Al Anderson, The Original Wailers carry forward the true spirit of the original music and the message of “One Love”.

Saturday, November 4th, is arguably the most important evening of the 2017 CP National Horse Show. Kicking off at 5pm with running of the National Horse Show 5k benefiting the UK Markey Cancer Foundation, the evening will then play host to the CP National Horse Show’s Breeders’ Cup Viewing Party, a Craft Beer Garden, and special Man O’ War celebration. The premier event, the Longines FEI World Cup™ show jumping competition begins at 6:30pm and features Olympic level competition from athletes that represent countries all over the world.

With $810,000 in prize money offered, this year’s CP National Horse Show has been designated a CSI-W 3* show by the FEI.  International Open Jumpers will compete for almost a half a million dollars in prize money. For the sixth year in a row, The National Show Hunter Hall of Fame has named the CP National Horse Show the ‘Horse Show of the Year’. In 2017, the top-rated hunter sections have a total purse of $195,000.
