Robbie W Racks Up Wins at Palgrave

Palgrave, ON – May 18, 2015 – Diane Creech and the Leatherdale Farms horses she trains and competes have returned to Canada after a busy winter season in Wellington, Florida, and Robbie W has jumped right back into the spotlight with a successful showing at the CornerStone Spring Into Dressage CDI3* May 8-10 in Palgrave, Ontario.

Creech rode Robbie W to two wins and a close second against some of Canada’s top small tour pairs. They won Friday’s Prix St. Georges with a score of 70.868 percent and followed that up by taking Saturday’s Intermediaire I with 71.368 percent. On Sunday, they narrowly missed out on a third victory, scoring 73.150 percent to finish just .025 percent behind Shannon Dueck and Cantaris.

“Doug and Louise Leatherdale are extremely pleased with Robbie, who continues to produce very strong and consistent tests,” Creech said. “I was very excited to win the Prix St. Georges and Inter I and then come so close in the Inter I Freestyle!”

“Perfect Robbie” is a fitting nickname for the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding by Rubin Royal. He has never finished out of the top five in CDI competition, and he earned consistent scores in the 70s during the winter season in Wellington. Creech feels his personality and work ethic, along with his natural talent, are big factors in his success.

“Robbie is just such a lovable friend who tries so hard,” she said. “He gives his best every ride.”

With the Pan American Games coming to Toronto in July, Creech is especially motivated to earn a spot on the team and represent her country. The equestrian events will be held at the Caledon Equestrian Park, which was also the site of the Palgrave CDI3*.

“We are keeping our focus on working to become a strong member of the Canadian team for the Pan American Games,” Creech said. “The facility and footing of the Palgrave show grounds are incredible and will for sure make this one of the best Pan Am Games facilities. We are so excited to have the Games on home ground! It would make it very special to perform in front of all our families and friends. We are keeping our fingers crossed!”
