Traverse City, Mich. – July 31, 2021 – Hunter riders and their top mounts were highlighted Saturday afternoon during Week IV of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors. Taking center stage in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring, a total of 31 horse-and-rider pairs put their names forward for the pinnacle hunter event, the $25,000 Platinum Performance USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Copper Fox. After two impressive rounds of stiff competition, Samantha Schaefer rode Madeline Schaefer’s In the Know to the top honors of the day with a high score of 374 to lead the victory gallop at the conclusion of the class.
Dominic Gibbs Dominates Dudley B. Smith Equitation Championship at Great Lakes Equestrian Festival
Week IV of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors, continued Saturday, July 31, at the Flintfields Horse Park. Saturday morning brought equitation competition to a pinnacle in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring for the highly anticipated Dudley B. Smith Equitation Championship. A field of 29 accomplished equitation riders took to the arena, but it was Dominic Gibbs and Cent 15 who would emerge victorious at the conclusion of the prestigious class.
