Shane Sweetnam and Ideal Race to Win Traverse City Tournament of Champions $137,000 Grand Prix CSI3*
Traverse City, Mich. – Sept. 5, 2021 – The final day of show jumping competition during Week I of the Traverse City Tournament of Champions featured the highly anticipated Traverse City Tournament of Champions $137,000 Grand Prix CSI3*. Some of the world’s top show jumping athletes took center stage in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring to battle for the lion’s share of the prize money. In the end, it was Ireland’s Shane Sweetnam and Ideal who galloped their way to victory after a clear and blazing jump-off time of 41.180 seconds. The United States’s Jonathan McCrea and Gazelle ES took home second place after a double-clear effort and a jump-off time of 41.630 seconds, while Katherine Dinan and Dougie Douglas were awarded third place with a time of 41.810 seconds.
Olivia Sweetnam and Coppertone Claim $10,000 Traverse City Hunter Derby Victory
The Polk Family Hunter Ring kicked off Sunday morning with the $10,000 Traverse City Hunter Derby, wrapping up the final day of competition during Week I of the Traverse City Tournament of Champions. A total of 26 junior, amateur and professional athletes took center stage to showcase their skills in the decorated derby ring. Olivia Sweetnam riding Coppertone emerged victorious to take home the win, followed by Kelsey Epperson and Didgereedoo VDL earning the red ribbon. Rounding out the top three was Hillary Johnson aboard Suede.
Sophie and Hannah Fisher Dominate Equis Low Children’s Jumper Division at Traverse City Tournament of Champions I
On the final day of competition during Week I of the Traverse City Tournament of Champions, show jumping’s top young athletes took center stage as several horse-and-rider pairs took their turn to vie for the winning title in the $500 Equis Low Children’s Jumper Classic held in the Jumper Annex Ring. Each horse-and-rider combination sought victory aboard their mounts, but it was a family affair as Sophie Fisher and My Cloud Nine took the championship title, while sister Hannah Fisher won the classic round Sunday and was awarded the reserve championship title aboard Ember Rising.
