Shawn Casady Strikes Again with Cortechico in $30,000 FarmVet Grand Prix
Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 11, 2021 – Show jumping action at the Desert International Horse Park continued on Thursday during Week II of the National Sunshine Series. As the sun set over the desert, top athletes took to the Grand Prix Arena for the highlight event, the $30,000 FarmVet Grand Prix. The crowd gathered to watch as 65 entries took on the 1.50m first round. Just three entries managed to jump clear rounds, but only two jumped off, and ultimately it was Shawn Casady back in the winners circle as the sole double-clear effort with Cortechico to claim his second grand prix win in a row.
Maison McIntyre Secures Individual Gold at USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships
Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 11, 2021 – The Grand Prix Arena served as the backdrop for the Individual Final for the USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships on Thursday at Week II of the National Sunshine Series. A cumulative championship format set over three rounds, riders focused on jumping clear to finish on the lowest possible score to secure a spot on the podium. After three rounds across three days of competition at the 1.40-1.45m height, Maison McIntyre stepped atop the podium as the gold medalist of the USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships with her mount Hold It Against Me.
Patrick Billes Blazes to Victory in $5,000 Welcome Speed at National Sunshine Series II
Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 9, 2021 – The Grand Prix Stadium at the Desert International Horse Park welcomed back athletes for the start of Week II of the National Sunshine Series on Wednesday. The highlight event of the day was the $5,000 Welcome Speed, sponsored by Everado Hegewisch Stables. Thirty-one horse and rider combinations sped around the track, and at the end of the day it was Patrick Billes and Espartano LS who handily took the win by more than six seconds.
Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships Kick Off at National Sunshine Series II
Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 10, 2021 – The Markel/USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships for Zones 9 and 10 held their first round at the Desert International Horse Park on Wednesday of Week II of the National Sunshine Series. The jumps increased in height beginning with the Children’s Jumpers at 1.10m-1.15m and culminating with the 1.30m-1.35m Amateurs to close the day. In the Grand Prix Arena, the Platinum Jumper Championship Team Final was held under the lights. Six winners were crowned by the end of the day in Jumper 1 and one team stood atop the podium in the Grand Prix Arena.
