Wellington, Fla. – Dec. 6, 2016 – With the highly anticipated 2017 Winter Equestrian Festival quickly approaching, it has been a top priority at Ronnie Beard and Michael Dorman’s Wyndmont, Inc. to prepare their clients and horses for the world-renowned event. Recently, the preparation included the 2017 Holiday & Horses CSI 4* held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center competition (Nov. 30 – Dec. 4), where the Wyndmont team rode away with 17 top 10 finishes.
The team kicked off the week with a victory in the 1.40m Open Jumpers, where Zephyr bested a field of 51 entries with a clear effort that was three seconds faster than the second place finisher. Todd Minikus was in the irons to help the Wyndmont horses prepare for the 2017 show season.
“I think for their first week back in the show ring the horses went really well,” Minikus said. “Zephyr was ready to show, and he understood the pace I wanted to go, so it worked out great.”
On Sunday, Zephyr and Minikus went on to have the fastest 4-fault round and finished eighth in the $25,000 Omega Alpha Grand Prix.
Olympic mount Valinski S returned to competition after a well-deserved break, where Minikus and the Dutch Warmblood competed in the $35,000 Noble Outfitters Holiday & Horses Opener and $35,000 TACKNRIDER 1.50m Qualifier.
“Valinski is a true professional,” noted Minikus. “I think he’s going to win a lot in a short period of time. It’s been a treat to ride horses for professionals that truly understand horsemanship. Ronnie and Michael have been in the business a long time.”
Colin Syquia, a longtime friend and former student of Beard and Dorman, earned a red ribbon in the 1.25m High Schooling Jumper aboard Cas on the first day of competition. Aboard Game Changed, Syquia secured a third place finish in the over fences portion of the 3’6″ Green Hunter, as well as a fourth place in the handy round.
Wyndmont student Sara Ballinger, placed third in 1.10m NAL Adult Amateur Jumper Classic aboard Memory Lane. Nicole Loochtan had the reins on Quarterman, and the pair earned fifth in the 1.40m Open Jumper. Laurie Sharma secured the red ribbon in the 1.10m Low Schooling Jumper with Equine Couture’s Carnavall.
“Our horses have had a great year, and they enjoyed their time off this fall,” commented Beard. “Although we’ve continued to work them at home, it was time for them to compete again. Todd has done a great job riding our grand prix horses and we hope to carry this momentum into 2017, as we continue to welcome new clients and new horses to the team.”
Wyndmont, Inc. offers superior training for professional and amateur athletes and consistently produces top quality jumper and hunter horses. Throughout the year, Beard and Dorman frequently travel with their talented string of horses and clients to compete at many of the nations’ most prestigious horse shows. The pair is passionate about helping their students and horses succeed at the top level of competition and are always open to helping riders find the horse which is best suited to help them meet their unique goals. To learn more about Wyndmont Inc., their students and more top show horses offered for sale, please visit their website www.wyndmont.com.
