Swift Swail Soars to $36,600 Talus 1.45m CSI3* Win with Theo 160 at National Sunshine Series I


Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 6, 2021 – Show jumping action at the Desert International Horse Park continued on Saturday during the National Sunshine Series. In the Grand Prix Ring, the highlight event of day was the $36,600 Talus 1.45m CSI3*, part of the international events presented by Marshall & Sterling. With quick and clear effort, it was once again Ireland’s Conor Swail and Theo 160 who topped a three-horse jump-off to lead the lap of honor.

Following the conclusion of the $36,600 Talus 1.45m CSI3* was the $25,000 FarmVet Grand Prix where just two horses advanced to the jump-off out of 33 entries. Ireland’s Lorcan Gallagher was the pathfinder aboard Lynn Parker’s Ivaludine S. He lowered the height of a single oxer during the tiebreaker, clocking in at 38.436 second with 4 faults.

Earlier in the day, the athletes focused on supporting Kevin Babington during the Silver Oak Jumping Tour’s 1.20m Jump for Kevin. The winner of the event was Babington’s fellow countryman Mark Kinsella of Ireland. He laid down a blazing speed round with Olivia Combs’ Elytis Du Manoir in a clear 52.007 seconds.

Molly Copeland and Crispy’s Crown Boy Capture PCHA Junior/Amateur 2’9″ Medal Finals Championship at National Sunshine Series I


Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 6, 2021 – Equitation athletes took over the Main Hunter Ring at the Desert International Horse Park on Saturday morning during the National Sunshine Series I. On Friday, the first round of the PCHA Junior/Amateur 2’9″ Medal Finals kicked off and the second round was held Saturday morning with 14 athletes vying for the winning honors. After the final test, Molly Copeland and Crispy’s Crown Boy were named the 2021 Pacific Coast Horse Show Association 2’9″ Southern Medal Finals Champions.

Christina Smith, Nick Haness and Lisa Wall Earn $5,000 National Hunter Derby Wins at National Sunshine Series I


Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 5, 2021 – Hunter derby action took center stage on Friday during the Desert International Horse Park’s National Sunshine Series I. The $5,000 USHJA Junior/Amateur National Hunter Derby, sponsored by Platinum Performance, kicked off the day with Christina Smith earning the top score aboard Soon to Be. The $5,000 USHJA Open National Hunter Derby, sponsored by Ritz Carlton, was split into two sections, with Nick Haness winning the Section A riding Reese’s, and Lisa Wall claiming the leading title in Section B with Tangled Up In Blue.

Conor Swail and Vital Chance de la Roque Secure $36,600 Sun Air Jets 1.50m CSI3* at National Sunshine Series I


Thermal, Calif. – Nov. 5, 2021 – International athletes competing in the FEI CSI3* competition, presented by Marshall & Sterling, returned to the Grand Prix Ring on Friday afternoon for a speed class at the Desert International Horse Park. Their sights were set on speeding through a tough track set by Ireland’s Alan Wade to earn the top prize in the $36,600 Sun Air Jets 1.50m CSI3* during the National Sunshine Series I. Ultimately, Conor Swail (IRL) and his rockstar Vital Chance de la Roque topped the 35 entries to secure the win.
