Traverse City, Mich. – July 26, 2019 – The third Equitation Tuesday of the 2019 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors, LLC, brought equitation athletes to the forefront once again as they competed for top honors and valuable points. Aboard Notorious, Taje Warrick ruled the day as she demonstrated superior equitation to claim the victory in two back-to-back classes, the NCEA Junior 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal and the THIS National Children’s Medal, as well as second place in the Hamel Foundation 3’3” NHS class.
One of the first classes of the morning, the NCEA Junior 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal brought a series of contenders to the Williamsburg Ring to vie for the blue ribbon and points towards one of the three regional year-end finals. The class is intended to showcase the unique skills of competitors to top coaches and colleges for equestrian scholarship consideration, and is open to all US Equestrian (USEF) and Equine Canada junior members. Riding Lilly Clarkson’s Notorious, 15-year-old Warrick displayed the best proper form out of Tuesday’s group, capturing the top spot on the scorecard to begin her winning streak.
Warrick and Notorious returned to the ring for the subsequent class, the THIS National Children’s Medal, and once again outshone the competition to add a second accolade to their names. One of the larger contests of the day, talent was not in short supply between the exhibitors as the top seven high-scoring pairs ultimately finished the class within 10 points of each other, led by Warrick and Notorious. In addition, the young rider piloted Notorious to another top result, earning second place honors in the Hamel Foundation 3’3” NHS class.
Other winners during Week IV’s Equitation Tuesday competition included Ned Cunniffe with the ride on Katherine Lebaron’s Cocktail 51, who navigated their way to the first place prize in the ASPCA/NHSAA Maclay Horsemanship class. In the Ariat National Adult Medal, Nicole Wilson earned first place with Spygate, owned by Show Hunter Investments, and Lilly Anthes jockeyed Susan Lohmann’s Don Diarado to victory in the Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal.
One final Equitation Tuesday will take place at the 2019 GLEF during Week V to provide equitation exhibitors the opportunity to collect double the amount of valuable qualifying points per week in one location.
