Tess Von Hemel and Lisa Goldman-Smolen Earn Gold in Markel/USHJA Zone 5 & 6 Individual and Platinum Jumper Championships
Traverse City, Mich. – Aug. 7, 2021 – The fifth week of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors, continued Saturday, August 7, bringing show jumping athletes back to the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring at the Flintfields Horse Park. The Markel/USHJA Zone 5 & 6 Jumper Team / Platinum Jumper Championships continued with the 1.10-1.15m Child/Adult and 1.40-1.45m Platinum Individual Final events. In the end, it was Tess Von Hemel who donned the gold medal in the 1.10-1.15m Child/Adult Individual Final, while Lisa Goldman-Smolen took the top spot on the podium in the 1.40-1.45m Platinum Final.
Amelia Bergeron Tops Tribute Equine Nutrition Adult Equitation Division at Great Lakes Equestrian Festival
Adult equitation riders were put in the spotlight Saturday, August 7, at the Flintfields Horse Park for the continuation of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors. Wrapping up the Tribute Equine Nutrition Adult Equitation division, Amelia Bergeron and Halouet claimed the championship tricolor out of a competitive field during Week V.
Dorothy Cox, Jerry Chu and Britta Stoeckel Earn Jumper Division Championships
Taking center stage in the Jumper Annex ring, the East Wind Farms Children’s Jumper, Pinecone Shavings Adult Jumper and Sugar Run Farm & Gajoch Family Low Amateur-Owner and Junior Jumper divisions all rounded out three days of competition followed by honoring each respective champion. Children, junior, amateur and adult show jumping competitors were all hopeful to close out Week V of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors, with a top finish. Each division held a Classic round Saturday, with valuable bonus points up for grabs toward the champion and reserve awards.
