In the first competition of its kind, Nilforushan Equisport Events is proud to announce a brand new tournament taking place during its spring horse shows that will change the game of horse showing. The tournament will debut at the Temecula Valley National Series in Spring 2022, featuring five weeks of USEF-rated competition beginning April 20, 2022, and finishing the first week of June 2022.
Horse and rider combinations can buy in to this format unique to Nilforushan Equisport Events, where the first four weeks serve as qualifiers for the final that will take place at Galway Downs, set for June 1-5, 2022. The tournament will run as an overlay to the usual horse show, but qualified tournament entrants will be competing for not only the normal prize money, but also a tournament bonus and the accumulated “pot” of buy-ins. More entrants means more prize money.
Jumper riders can buy into the tournament for $6,000, while hunter riders can buy in for $3,000. For that investment, riders will receive a minimum of their entry fee back in vouchers for major discounts to various equestrian companies that have partnered with Nilforushan Equisport Events. With this buy-in comes not only the opportunity to compete for some of the largest purses on the West Coast, but also valuable perks.
“We’re thrilled to be able to host such a cutting-edge competitive opportunity here at Nilforushan Equisport Events,” said Ali Nilforushan. “Not only will the competition be top-notch, but the discounts and swag provided by some of the industry’s best brands is unparalleled. We will be giving each tournament competitor…
over $10,000 worth of vouchers!
We’re grateful to everyone who has helped us get this tournament off and running.”
The first four horse shows will run as they have in the past, and riders will be able to accumulate points as they compete throughout the circuit. The top 12 or 30%, whichever is greater, of the nominated athletes in each division throughout the first four weeks of competition will qualify for the division’s final during the last week. With more entrants, more prize money will be at stake. Between the “pot” and the added tournament bonus, athletes will have the opportunity to compete for significant money.
Jumper riders qualify by accumulating points from their designated division classics each week, while hunter riders qualify by earning points in their division classes. Alternatively, jumper athletes will have the opportunity to win their way into the tournament by topping the pre-determined classes designated as “qualifiers” on the prize list. Wild card spots will be awarded to winners of the designated division classics at one of the four shows leading up to the final week. For those who qualify, entry for the final is FREE.
