This year’s event will be dedicated in memory of the late Michael Rheinheimer.
Rheinheimer was a well-respected and renowned show manager, course designer and trainer who operated Madison Hills Farm in Gates Mills, Ohio.
Rheinheimer grew up riding and training ponies and horses. He has managed major horse shows, including the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden, USEF Pony Finals, the Brandywine Valley Summer Series, Skidmore College Saratoga Classic Horse Show and the Chagrin Hunter Jumper Classic, to name a few. He was one of the most sought-after course designers for shows such as the Winter Equestrian Festival, Pennsylvania National Horse Show, Washington International Horse Show, USEF Pony Finals, National Horse Show and the Capital Challenge Horse Show. He was named the American Hunter Jumper Foundation course designer of the year in 2009. Rheinheimer passed away on Dec. 1, 2017 at 54 years old.
Rheinheimer and his fiancé, Amanda Lyerly, have both been attending the BIHS for many years and have played a significant role in the show’s success. His brother, Dean, is also the course designer for this year’s show.
