Traverse City, Mich. – May 7, 2019 – The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF) will continue its fifth year of competition at the spectacular showgrounds of the Flintfields Horse Park in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan, beginning on July 3.
The management team at GLEF is dedicated to making constant improvements to the show each year in order to better serve its exhibitors and maintain the quality of the grounds. As a result, GLEF is excited to announce the extensive improvements and upgrades that have been made to the Flintfields Horse Park in preparation for the upcoming 2019 summer circuit.
In 2019, the Flintfields Horse Park will offer six competition rings, with the addition of the Williamsburg Ring, as well as a number of spacious schooling rings. The extra competition ring will help better accommodate exhibitors more efficiently so they can spend more time enjoying the beautiful resort town of Traverse City after the show, while also providing an extra place for people to ride when not being used as a competition ring.
One of the key elements to any successful event is great footing, and the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival is no exception. The Jumper Annex and VanKampen Rings have all been revamped with world-renowned German-based GGT Footing, installed by JTWG and 4G Surfaces.
“This is just one of the many improvements we are making at the GLEFfacility,” said show manager Matt Morrissey of Morrissey Management Group. “We are thrilled to once again have this footing featured in some of the busiest and most popular rings at the show.”
Along with a brand new ring, this year’s GLEF exhibitors can expect the highest quality of safe footing, offering the perfect blend of soft and firm and providing the correct amount of support that is ideal for both hunter and jumper horses. This upgrade of world-class footing is sure to please the most discerning owners, trainers and riders at the upcoming 2019 GLEF.
Finally, a new pavilion built and installed by Suncast® Commercial, the Southern Arches Pavilion, will debut this year between the two main hunter rings.
This year’s closing date for entries for the first three weeks of competition is June 3. Trainers and riders are encouraged to submit their entries and stall reservations as soon as possible to ensure acceptance.
