Karl Cook Commands $40,000 Go Rentals Grand Prix with Kalinka Van’t Zorgvliet During Desert Circuit I

Thermal, Calif. – Jan. 22, 2022 – Show jumping athletes took to the Grand Prix Arena on Saturday afternoon for the $40,000 Go Rentals Grand Prix to compete for top honors and the lion’s share of the prize money. Twenty-nine horse-and-rider combinations took to the first course, designed by Ken Krome, in an attempt to navigate it clear and within the time allowed. With a total of six clear first rounds, the athletes moved forward into the shortened course, where speed became the name of the game. At the end of the class, it was Karl Cook and Signe Otsby’s Kalinka Van’t Zorgvliet who emerged victorious and took the win. The $1,000 EquiFit U25 Classic was held as an overlay with the feature class, and taking the win was Mitch Endicott and the Bridgeport Farms LLC entry Chaccrobat.

Thermal, Calif. – Jan. 22, 2022 – Saturday of Desert Circuit I welcomed all Junior Hunters back to Hunter 2 to show off their abilities and vie for championship honors and Junior Hunter Classic titles. Taking home blue ribbons in all four over fences classes and the championship honors in the Junior Hunter 16-17 3’6” , sponsored by Callidae, was Avery Rose Glynn with In Favor, owned by B R Farms LLC. Glynn also took home the reserve championship with Aventus, owned by Jennifer Cancellieri, winning the under saddle class and taking home notable ribbons over fences.

Thermal, Calif. – Jan. 21, 2022 – The first feature hunter class of Desert Circuit took place on Friday at the Desert International Horse Park. Hunter athletes took to the ring first for the $5,000 $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby – Open, sponsored by Ritz Carlton, followed by the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby – Jr/Am, sponsored by San Marcos Stables in Hunter 1. Topping the Open section was Californian Joie Gatlin and D’Avant with a total score of 191. Avery Rose Glynn won the Junior/Amateur section with Opportunity Mars on a total score of 175.5.

Thermal, Calif. – Jan. 21, 2022 – Equitation athletes took to the Grand Eq Ring on Friday morning for the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search 2*. After a round of jumping and intense testing on the flat, Avery Rose Glynn emerged as the winner in the first major equitation class of the 2022 Desert Circuit. Second place was awarded to Naomi Wegner while Gabrielle Sokolow claimed third place honors.
