Lexington, KY – August 3, 2021 – After wrapping up a fantastic first week of the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, we look ahead to the Kentucky Summer Classic (KSC) highlight classes. The KSC will consist of world-class competition with feature classes including the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, $25,000 Kentucky Summer Classic and finishing off the week with the highly anticipated $50,000 Hagyard Grand Prix.
The $50,000 Hagyard Grand Prix will be counted for valuable points towards the 2021 edition of the Kentucky Horse Shows’ Hagyard Rider Challenge. Hagyard Equine Medical Institute has hosted the Challenge series since 2006, and the highly sought-after bonus prize of $20,000 will be awarded to the professional rider accumulating the most points in the classes that make up the Hagyard Rider Challenge series. The presentation of the Leading Rider Award award will take place during the Kentucky National Horse Show in September.
The 2021 Hagyard Rider Challenge includes the following events:
• $137,000 Hagyard Lexington Grand Prix CSI3* Saturday, May 15th at the Kentucky Spring Horse show
• $137,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix CSI3* presented by Hagyard Saturday, May 22nd at the Kentucky Spring Classic
• $50,000 Hagyard Grand Prix Saturday, August 7th at the Kentucky Summer Classic
• $50,000 The Betsy Grand Prix presented by Hagyard – Sunday, September 26th Kentucky National Horse Show/The Betsy Gala
