Crete, Ill. – June 22, 2017 – Maggie Jayne and Pony Lane Farm’s elite stallion Standing Ovation have made a habit of visiting the winner’s circle lately, most recently winning the prestigious $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby presented by Bull Run Equestrian Center at Showplace Spring Spectacular III. Just a couple weeks prior, the pair also took home the champion title in the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at the Devon Horse Show.

Adding to an already impressive victory, Jayne also navigated Like I Said to the second-place finish, effectively sweeping the top spots in the class at HITS Balmoral with two Pony Lane Farm performance horses.

Jayne and her two mounts solidified a strong position in the standings after the first round of derby competition, with Standing Ovation and Like I Said both garnering scores of 181.5, the second-best scores to Tracy Fenney and MTM Outbid’s leading score of 185.

The Pony Lane Farm team will wrap up this week’s competition at HITS Balmoral, then make the trek to The Colorado Horse Park for Summer in the Rockies. Following Colorado, they will head back to the Midwest for Equifest in Wayne, Illinois, then go on to the USHJA International Derby Finals in Lexington, Kentucky.

Maggie Jayne on Standing Ovation:

“He’s amazing. I really can’t say enough about Standing Ovation. He has a big stride and a lovely way of going – He’s very light on his feet, he’s scopey and he’s not spooky. He’s a true competitor. He’s also a breeding stallion, but he really knows the difference between work time and play time.

He’s 10 years old this year, so it’s the perfect age to really showcase him in the derbies. Sometimes the younger horses can get a little overwhelmed, but he’s really stepped into his own. He’s a super smart horse.”

Maggie Jayne on riding both Pony Lane Farm horses into the winner’s circle:

“I was ecstatic. They’re both very talented horses and I was happy they got to showcase themselves so well. Even through the storm, they kept their cool because they’re such great competitors. It was really fun!

I started riding both Standing Ovation and Like I Said in November so I’m still getting to know them a bit, but I know them well enough to anticipate what they’re thinking. I think that partnership had a lot to do with the success today. I would like to thank Pony Lane Farm for letting me ride such amazing horses, and Bull Run Equestrian Center for sponsoring the derby!”
