A native of Hungary, Matisz, started showing competitively by the age of ten. By thirteen, he was achieving great success on the Hungarian national stage in both Young Rider and Amateur classes at the 1.35-meter level.
Following his international debut in England in 2006, Matisz traveled to Spain to train with the accomplished Spanish show jumper, Aurelio Gutierrez. Matisz remained in Spain for four years, bringing young horses through the ranks to compete at the Grand Prix level.
In 2011, Matisz relocated to Middleburg, Virginia, to continue his professional development under the tutelage of legendary Olympic show jumper, Joe Fargis. After working with Fargis for five years, Matisz founded, David Matisz LLC a stable dedicated to competing, training and coaching. David divides his time between Middleburg, Va., and Wellington, Fla.,.
Matisz expertly blends his knowledge and passion for equestrian sports with a straightforward approach to create a personalized training program enables his students achieve their personal competition goals. In addition to his competitive efforts, Matisz is known for discovering high-end sale horses in Europe and developing them into promising young prospects.
Matisz is currently accepting new clientele who share his national and international aspiration, either in the ring or as owners of horses competing.,
Matisz consistently places at the top in national and international show jumping events with his current string of horses, and has his sights set on the World Equestrian Games (WEG) 2018 in Tryon, North Carolina, to represent his home country of Hungary.
