Over The Top Stables LLC Enjoys Spring and Summer Success in Traverse City

Traverse City, Mich. – Aug. 21, 2020 – Thanks to a series of talented horses and riders on its roster, Over The Top Stables LLC was one of the top-performing owners during Traverse City Horse Shows‘ spring and summer series. With outstanding results ranging from the .85m Jumpers to the hunter derbies and all the way up the the FEI grand prix level, equestrian and equine talent was in no short supply. Though the lengthy competition freeze due to COVID-19 had significantly altered the 2020 calendar of events, the Over The Top Stables LLC team proved refreshed and ready to win after making the most of their time training at home.

Beginning with the Traverse City Spring Horse Show, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, in June, the squad started strong, then returned to Michigan for Week Five of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival (GLEF), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC, where their success continued. During the final week of the six-week show, Over The Top Stables LLC pulled out all the stops to finish the series with a bang. In total, the team collected ribbons and prize money over three weeks with seven different horses.

Gemma W Jumps to Podium Finish in Three FEI Classes
With Daniel Bluman (ISR) in the irons, Over The Top Stables LLC’s Gemma W earned a top-three finish in an international class each week that she competed at Flintfields Horse Park. During the spring series, Gemma W placed third in the $72,900 Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel Grand Prix CSI2*, then returned to the ring for back-to-back CSI3* weeks one month later. During Week Five of GLEF, she galloped to third position in the $36,600 Grand Traverse Speed Classic CSI3*, then added to her growing list of achievements with a second-place finish in the grand finale of Week Six, the $137,000 CaptiveOne Advisors Grand Prix CSI3*.

Ferrari Shines During First Summer in Hunter Ring
Previously campaigned in the jumper ring, Ferrari made his debut in the hunter ring during his time in Traverse City. With Lourdes de Guardiola as the jockey, Ferrari jumped to the top of the leaderboard in GLEF’s Week Six $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby ahead of a field of seasoned veterans and talented up-and-comers. For his victory, Ferrari was honored as the Platinum Performance Hunter Horse of the Week. The duo also captured the reserve championship in the Performance 3’6″ Hunters, thanks to Ferrari’s scopey jump and easy way of going. The judges rewarded him with a blue ribbon over fences, plus second place in the hack and the handy class.

Alexa Schwitzer Earns Tricolors with Coco
During Week Six of GLEF, Alexa Schwitzer pulled out all the stops to accrue an impressive collection of top results in the jumper ring. Riding Coco, the pair nabbed the championship in the Team Welles Medium Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, second place in the $7,500 Medium Junior/AO Jumper Classic and first position in the $1,000 Medium Junior/AO Jumpers. Schwitzer also piloted Delinquent JX to the blue ribbon honors in the 1.10m Jumpers to round out a successful week of competition.

The team at Over The Top Stables LLC is looking forward to its next competition, which will once again take them to Traverse City. Horses including Ladriano Z, Ubiluc, Coco, Delinquent JX and Vicomte De Le Cour will all make appearances in the ring during the fall dates in Michigan. Over The Top Stables LLC representatives will compete in the Traverse City Fall Horse Show, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, from Aug. 26 – 30, to kick off the series, followed by the CSI2* and CSI4* weeks of the American Gold Cup, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC, from Sept. 2 – 13.
