DEVON, Pa. – NOVEMBER 10, 2016 – The Devon Horse Show & Country Fair Foundation has approved the funding needed to continue improvements to the historic show grounds. This approval comes at the heels of a tremendously successful 2016 year, with many improvements already made to the grounds.
Among the myriad of improvements planned for 2017 is the repair of 80 horse stalls, adding to the 120 stalls that were repaired in 2016. The newly-built Devon Club was painted this month in the iconic Devon Blue color; it will also receive new equipment and furniture. To be completed in time for the 2017 Devon Horse Show will be handicap-accessible bathrooms under the East Grandstand so that both the east and west sides of the Dixon Oval will have such facilities.
“We are thrilled to have been given the approval to continue our mission of making this one of the top 5 rated shows. These ongoing improvements to make the show grounds as attractive as possible to competitors, visitors, exhibitors, and vendors alike will up our rating and provide a world-class experience,” said Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Chairman Wayne W. Grafton. “We could not accomplish this without the support of the board and the entire community.”
Additional 2017 plans that have been approved include upgraded fixtures and equipment to enhance the Garden Café operations, two new vendor sheds, storm water management restructuring, and springtime landscaping designed to further enhance the grounds.
In addition to the new Devon Club, which was designed for the highest end entertainment on the show grounds, Devon completed a number of impressive projects in 2016, including several new vendor spaces, resurfaced performance rings, improved stabling, and a brand-new all-purpose building that houses First Aid, the Horse Show Office, and new administrative offices. “As we wrap up our 120th anniversary year, the public is invited to be a part of Anniversary Square by purchasing commemorative bricks that are being laid in the patio,” said Grafton.
