Traverse City Horse Shows to Host Adequan®/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships East Coast

Traverse City, Mich. – Aug. 7, 2020 – Traverse City Horse Shows is pleased to report that Flintfields Horse Park will serve as the new host of the 2020 Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships East Coast from Aug. 23 – 25, 2020. In conjunction with US Equestrian, the decision was made to relocate the event from its previous home in Kentucky in order to avoid cancellation. The United States Hunter Jumper Association Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic, presented by Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College, will coincide with the championships on these dates.

The extended three-day timeline of the championship will serve to reduce traffic, with Sunday and Monday featuring the hunter classes while Tuesday will showcase equitation in the USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic.

The Traverse City Horse Shows team will be making good use out of the two weeks they have between the end of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC, and the beginning of the Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships East Coast in order to prepare for participants and appropriately sanitize the venue prior to the start of competition.

Entries are due Friday, August 14, 2020. Ticketed warm-ups will be offered in various rings on the showgrounds.

Polk Family Main Hunter Ring and Hunter Ring II: Friday, Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring and Equitation Ring: Monday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The championships will be followed immediately by the Traverse City Fall Horse Show, presented by Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, from Aug. 26 – 30. The 50th American Gold Cup (AGC), presented by CaptiveOne Advisors LLC, will then take place for two back-to-back weeks from Sept. 2 – 13. The first week of the American Gold Cup will feature the Silver Oak Jumper Tournament, presented by The Davis McCullough Foundation, from Sept. 2 – 6, and the second week will take place from Sept. 9 – 13.

Protocols included in the USEF COVID-19 Action Plan will be strictly enforced. Traverse City Horse Shows has also developed its own comprehensive COVID-19 Action Plan.
