Thank you for your continued support throughout the 2021 summer horse show season! Without the generosity and support of each one of you, we would not have had a successful summer season. From Tryon, North Carolina, Traverse City, Michigan, Kentucky Bluegrass Festival and concluding at The Hampton Classic, our team had one of the best summer horse show seasons, garnering top placings at some of the largest venues across the country. I am proud and thankful to my students, owners and horses who encompass my team and help make this all possible.
Our summer season started in Tryon, where Glade Run Farm LLC’s Ipso Facto collected the first big win in the $15,000 International Hunter Derby. That same week, Isabella Watson’s Wish List was crowned champion in the Baby Green 2’6” Hunter, Karen Bruce’s Mastermind took home champion in the Green 3’3” Hunter, as well as the reserve Grand Green Hunter Champion, and Scott Durchslag’s Intrepid earned champion in the Performance 3’3” Hunter. Finally, to wrap up a wonderful trip in Tryon, Parker Peacock’s Acclaim won the $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby.
The team headed up to the Great Lake Equestrian Festival in the beautiful Traverse City, Michigan, where we saw continued success. Mastermind won the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive 3′-3’3″ with a score of 90. Mastermind continued to impress us, winning the incentive during the following week in the Green 3’3″ Hunter to take home champion as well as the reserve Grand Green Hunter Champion. Over in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring, BMT Partner’s, Gemino jumped to a fantastic double-clear finish and fourth place in the $137,000 Staller Grand Prix CSI3*.
Our second-to-last stop was at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park for the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show that played host to the Green Hunter Incentive Championship and the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals. Brad Wolf’s Doctor’s Orders kicked off the Platinum Performance USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championship 3’-3’3” section with a win, while Karen Bruce’s Mastermind took home second place. Bryan Baldwin and Meralex Farm’s El Primero kicked off USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals earning a 94, 89 and 89 during the first round. Ipso Facto placed 6th overall in the Platinum Performance/USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals Classic Round. Gemino once again continued to dominate the jumper ring, jumping to a clear round in the $40,000 Bluegrass Grand Prix.
We finally returned to the annual Hampton Classic to close out our 2021 summer show season with top placings in the hunter rings. Gemino took home a big win in the $10,000 Open Jumper 1.40m and continued his winning streak to take home the blue ribbon in the $10,000 Douglas Elliman Open Jumper 1.45m class. Parker Peacock and Lindsey Garvey’s LGS Theodore put in grand rounds in the Children’s Hunter 14 & U division earning champion in the division. Gabriel again steps up to the plate, winning the High Performance Conformation 3’9” Hunter, helping our team wrap up our final week of the summer 2021 season.
